Give to Summer Missions

There are a ton of students looking to spend their summer on mission but they can't go alone. They need support partners to come alongside them and be a part of what God is doing this summer. Take a look at the students below and prayerfully consider being part of one of their trips through financial and/or prayer support.

Trip: South Africa: Pretoria (Mamelodi)

Description: One factor that has caused the Kingdom of God to advance over the centuries has been the active response of Christians to the great needs of their day. This project is about meeting these needs in Mamelodi, South Africa, a vast township left in the wake of Apartheid where a significant number of residents still live with no electricity or running water. Less than 11 percent of students qualify for university, as they often struggle with entrance exams given in English rather than in their home languages. Here, we have the opportunity to model the Gospel in both word and deed. We will serve as intern teachers for the Mamelodi Initiative, a non-profit educational enrichment program that strives to empower youth to create positive change in their community. The program utilizes the students’ 3-week break from school to build foundational mathematics and English skills, with the aim of moving learners towards performing at or above grade level. Each of us will partner with a South African university student, teaching a small group of learners in the morning and then leading creative or activity-based workshops in the afternoon. (Past examples have included spoken word, dance, rugby, and photography.) Teachers will build connections with learners by facilitating team building activities and sharing their stories. We want to come away having humbly revealed Jesus to those we meet in Mamelodi and with tools on our belt to advance the Kingdom wherever God has put us for college.

Trip: Brazil (VisionTrust)

Description: 153 million orphans. More slaves today than at the height of the African Slave trade. Over 20,000 children dying every single day from a lack of basic resources. This trip is your chance to engage some of these children face to face and learn about the best practices to help (and not hurt) the millions of suffering children around the world. We will come alongside some amazing local Brazilian Christian leaders to help them in their ministries to the hurting children around them. We will serve the children in numerous ways, including hosting an overnight camp for teens/youth (many of whom are children of drug dealers or prostitutes). Serving will include feeding, playing games (futbol anyone?!), teaching and sharing our lives and testimonies with them as we encourage them to trust and follow the Lord who loves them so dearly.

Trip: East Asia

Description: This Summer Mission offers you an opportunity to engage in spiritual conversations with university students, most of whom have never heard the truth about Jesus. Trip: Pre-Med/Pre-Pro Healthcare Mission

Description: Many Christian healthcare students long to integrate their faith into their professional practice. National studies indicate that 60%-70% of patients want their health provider to address their spiritual needs. Yet most professionals do not know how to do this and health students are not taught. Spend 10 days during the summer learning to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of your future patients.

Donation Instructions: Checks can be made payable to Gina Gordon and sent to 1022 Cox Avenue Washington Crossing, PA 18977

Trip: Engineering Ministries International - Cambodia

Description: Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, was once known as the “Pearl of Asia” - a model of successful growth and modernization. After civil wars in the 1970's, Phnom Penh and Cambodia have made strides to recover the lost years, driving rapid development and urbanization. EMI Cambodia hopes to come alongside Cambodia, sharing our design & construction knowledge to see the Kingdom of Cambodia prosper.
When you join us for an internship in Cambodia, you will be a vital piece in the design and completion of a design project for one of our ministry partners in Southeast Asia. You will work on a diverse team, learning from Khmer and International staff, licensed engineers, and experienced volunteers. After orientation in Phnom Penh, you and the team will spend about a week on the project site, learning first hand from the client about their requirements and learning about the local context. As a team, you will share testimonies and spend time in prayer and devotion while on site. You will then take the initial designs and concepts back to our office in Phnom Penh and use the rest of the semester to develop and deliver a solution to the client that best meets their specific needs. During your time in the office, not only will you develop professional skills, you will take part in daily all-staff devotions, weekly bible study, and explore other local ministry options. As an EMI intern, you’ll gain practical work experience in your technical field and Christian ministry – simultaneously!

Trip: Nations Montana: Blackfeet Indian Reservation

Description: Nations was born out of a vision to honor First Nations people while trusting God to restore their lives and culture with Christ. God has chosen us to be a part of an exciting moment in history where we are experiencing a new day in Native ministry. The indigenous people of North America have experienced 500 years of historical trauma due to an ethnocentric missionary approach and colonial greed. Yet, God in his faithfulness is restoring Native Americans to be crucial members of the body of Christ for his Kingdom purposes. We will be working alongside these Natives which is an exciting new chapter in Cru’s history.

Trip: Alaska: Juneau

Description: Juneau, Alaska — a city of roughly 30,000 — is located in one of the most breathtaking places on the planet. It’s also one of the more remote: The only way to get into or out of town is by boat or by airplane. Because it’s geographically isolated and its weather is often gloomy, Juneau can be a spiritually dark place. We strive to be a light this summer in the community of Juneau — ministering to the locals, and encouraging the local body of believers.

Trip: Japan: Tokyo

Description: As westernized as the nation of Japan is, less than 1 percent of its population (127 million) even claims to be Christian. Ministry on a Japanese campus requires much prayer, persistence, and patience in building relationships with students who need to see how the Christian life is lived out on a daily basis. Typically, Japanese college students are very intelligent, value fashion and technology, and are greatly influenced through relationships. Many are interested in the western world, and particularly in making American friends, but these Japanese students have a legacy of generations and generations of spiritual darkness. On a summer project to Tokyo, we have the opportunity to stand in the gap on their behalf and bring them hope that only comes in Jesus. Spending the summer in Japan is part of the farming process—we sow many seeds, nurture these seeds, and reap the fruit. Whether the reaping happens during our trip, or months, even years later, it is in God’s hands and we enter the process wherever He allows us. Join us this summer as we partner with Student Impact, the Japanese Cru movement, to reach some of the most influential universities in Tokyo.
